Course Title: Mindfulness-Based “Third Wave” Cognitive Therapy Training 

Duration: 3 Months ( 12 Weeks) 

Overview: 

This comprehensive training program is designed to explore the principles and techniques of “Third Wave” Cognitive Therapy, focusing on Mindfulness, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Participants will gain a deep understanding of these therapeutic approaches and learn practical applications for integrating them into clinical practice. 

Week 1-2: Introduction to Third Wave Psychotherapy 

  • Understanding the Evolution of Cognitive Therapies 
  • Overview of First, Second, and Third Wave Cognitive Therapies 
  • Emphasis on Mindfulness-Based Approaches 

Week 3-4: Mindfulness Fundamentals 

  • Definition and Concept of Mindfulness 
  • Mindfulness Meditation Practices 
  • Integration of Mindfulness in Daily Life 
  • Mindful Awareness and Presence 

Week 5-6: Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) 

  • Core Principles of ACT 
  • Psychological Flexibility 
  • Values Clarification and Commitment 
  • Mindfulness in ACT 

Week 7-8: Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) 

  • Introduction to DBT and its Founder, Marsha Linehan 
  • Dialectics and Balancing Opposites 
  • Core DBT Skills: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness 
  • Application of DBT in Clinical Settings 

Week 9-10: Integration and Practical Application 

  • Integrating Mindfulness, ACT, and DBT in Clinical Practice 
  • Case Studies and Role-Playing Exercises 
  • Adapting Techniques to Various Populations
  • Ethical Considerations in Third Wave Psychotherapy 

Assessment: 

Participants will be evaluated through: 

  • Weekly Reflection Journals 
  • Case Conceptualization and Treatment Planning Assignment 
  • Final Project: Applying Third-Wave Techniques to a Clinical Scenario 

Certification: 

Upon successful completion of the course and assessments, participants will receive a certification in Mindfulness-Based “Third Wave” Cognitive Therapy.
